Friends of Cudham Church
maintaining the beauty of St Peter & St Paul’s church for future generations to enjoyHOME
Welcome to the Friends of Cudham Church website
Standing at a high point in the village, we ahve a beautiful 11th Centuary church. It was mentioned in the Doomsday book in 1086 and it is likely that a place of workship has existed on this site since before 956AD
Cudham is very priviledged to have such an old and beautiful church building. For many of us the church is well known, through the happy times of a wedding or a baptism and for some the sad time of a funeral. The church has been used by many Cudham villagers over the centuries
The church building has been maintained, and is still being maintained by the church congregation and local community with no help from the Church of England nor central government.
Every five years the building is independently surveyed and a report is written giving a schedule of works. The schedule shows the work that should be completed to keep the building to the required standard over the next five year. It lists the most important repairs, those that must be completed, right down to repairs that would be good to do when funds are available.
The upkeep of this fine Grade II listed building is dependent upon voluntary giving and donations. The church receives no other funding.
